As my candle, burning bright
Sends shadows off on this dark night

To the horses dancing up above.
My prayers and thoughts will help them find
Beloved friends they left behind.
So they may comfort us in turn,
And thus it is my candle burns.
With quiet tears, lovingly shed

For another friend has joined the herd.

Lighting a candle for a
beloved one who has gone on ahead is an ancient, healing ritual for those
who remain behind. The eternal flickering flame of your candle is a reminder
that you and your horse will forever be united in your love for each other.
And the warm light your horse's candle provides lets you know that his/her
spirit lives on always.
This is a first step you can take to begin to move from the grief of the
death of your horse to honoring the gift of his life. You are welcome to
light a candle here for each horse you have loved in your lifetime who has
gone on ahead. Please take a moment to acknowledge the candle lightings for
all our heavenly horses as you remember and honor your own.

I have begun to include
owners' first names with their horse's name and candle. I no longer have
candle lighting requests for horses on Pages 1 - 9, however, so I have
no way of knowing what human name goes with which horse.
