Hoofbeats In Heaven
In Praise Of The Horse

Tribute To The Human/Equine Bond

Waiting
Written & Contributed By
Ashley Inderfurth

My horse waits for me
In a big green field,
With no fences to bind him
No wounds left unhealed.

He gallops and whinnies
In a voice so dear,
He stops, ears pricked
The silence, clear.

He spots a figure
Coming across the land,
He stares in wonder
As I raise my hand.

It has been so long now
Decades have passed,
But it seems only yesterday
We were together last.

He sees me and comes
As a smile lights my face,
So long ago I asked him
To wait in this place.

And now here we are,
United again
We'll be together always
Forever, my friend.
