This One's For You, Gilley

I just want you to know that I love you very much.
I never will forget you and I know you'll be in touch.

Even though you're not here now, I know right where you are.
It might seem like quite a distance, but its really not that far.

You are where you are meant to be, in heaven up above.
I know that you watch over me because I feel your love.

When you see me crying, I don't want you to be sad.
I am just remembering the great times that we had.

So when you're up there watching me, and I know you are,
Please keep in mind that I am really never very far.

I know that this is hard for you, much like it is for me.
We will be together soon, you just wait and see.

I have just one more thing to say before this letter's through.
Though other horses come and go, I'm meant to be with you.

You made me smile when I'd forgotten how to do it right.
You are everything to me, my boy, I miss you more each night.
