Luckiest of Them All
Written & Contributed By
Mia Gradick

I remember the day I first met you.
Young and spry and wide-eyed I was to have met you.
But never did I realize that I was the luckiest of them all.

I looked up one day to the stars for me to find my first horse,
and there you were waiting for me,
The perfect answer to my prayers.
But never did I realize I was the luckiest of them all.

Until you were gone,
So fast did you go, bad health,
And I was still young and crazy and the unbridled person I am.
But yet, Irish, you still always teach me that I am
the luckiest of them all.

The memories made,
My first champion and much more,
Helps me realize that you don't need a friend to lean on at all,
because you have the best one who will always forgive you even
in your darkest hour.

And that was the last time I saw you,
still wide-eyed and beautiful.
It's been three years since you went to the other side,
After you showed me I am the luckiest of them all.

"In loving memory of NY Lawyer, Irish,
a stunning chestnut Hunter thoroughbred."
