AMG Stormy Sky

Arabian mare

Born: Estimate of February 14, 1983

Passed Away: May 13, 2006

Owned by Melissa Muns

Loved by Amy & George Muns as well as Melissa

Stormy was a birthday gift to my daughter for her 9th birthday. Stormy was a character. Looking back, maybe not the best temperament for a child's first horse - but I would like to hope that everything works out the way it is supposed to in the end.

She was very independent and was not shy about letting anyone know when she didn't like something. Amidst all the head tossing - bloody noses, stomped feet, etc., she really could be a dignified lady.

Stormy wasn't treated too well by several of her prior owners, and so was made pigeon toed and had a fused fetlock, which caused her daily constant pain. She went downhill with arthritis and the pain, quickly causing her to become depressed. Stormy was known as "Scribbles" by a past owner because of the way she walked.

Stormy liked butterscotch mints and french fries. Stormy taught Melissa much about horses and  us all about how hard it is to have to make the decision to put a horse out of misery and pain. Stormy is now resting overlooking the open desert and hills of Nevada. I believe that the other 5 horses know she is gone and I believe they are grieving as well in their own ways.

Stormy Sky's Prayer
by Melissa Muns, Age 10

May Stormy Sky rest in peace
with her family and friends.
May God give her a new set of legs,
and wonderful health, and a happy life,
knowing that deep down in me,
I loved her so much,
though I never showed it.
I apologize for that,
I should have showed her more love,
but I never did.
And if there is such a thing as an after-life,
may God give her one,
that is what she would probably want.
Let her go somewhere good
without being in danger of any sort,
not being bullied by horses,
or abused by cruel humans.
Let her have good strong legs, great health,
wonderful food, such as carrots, apples, and mints,
or whatever else her heart desires.
Let her be free to roam on solid grounds,
let her feel the rush of the warm breeze
through her long, flowing, mane & tail.
Let her stand without trembling,
run knowing she can, full of confidence.
Let her know I loved her,
most importantly,
let her know my family loved her.
