Star

Arabian/Quarter Horse cross
29 years old
Star lived a wonderful life at Saddle Brook Farm in Swansea, MA.

Not just a horse...

Star was more than an ordinary horse. He was kind and gentle, funny and amusing. He loved to be in the center of human conversation and if he could talk he would have told interesting stories and off-color jokes. He wasn’t keen on crowds; he preferred the company of a few close chums. He wasn’t showy but loved to prance for the ladies. He couldn’t jump high but was excited to clear a fallen tree. And once he found his confidence, he was eager to try it again and again.

Star loved to go, to see what existed beyond the boundaries of the field. But he always needed a companion or two, and was never particularly willing to lead. He imagined he was brave until twigs snapped or wind rustled the leaves. He knew then it was best to fall back and let someone larger fall prey to monsters unseen. He was happy and friendly and perfectly content to be on the sidelines watching others much younger circling the ring. Not a show horse, but not just a horse — Star was a confidant and companion, a best friend, indeed.

God Bless Star — may he rest in peace.
