Spring

There's a New Horse in Heaven...

My soul is laid open, a hole dark and deep.

My mind thinks I'm dreaming, it thinks I'm asleep.

I walk through the pastures, a horse's carpet under my feet.

Such a beautiful day, birds singing, I weep.

I feel like I'm floating, how can this be true?

My best friend, my sister, my mother, my teacher too.

How can she be gone? We've come so many miles.

Through all the years she brought me so many smiles.

We lost her first born, together we shared the pain.

It was a hard time, but we got up again.

The blindness came early, she cried in the night.

It was another hard time, when she lost her sight.

They said, "Put her down" but my heart said, "Don't give up."

Through friendship and trust we managed to cross the rut.

The miles we traveled, the days we shared.

You were such a beautiful friend and you showed how much you cared.

I miss your smile, as silly as it was. I miss you huggn back when I gave you a hug.

Each year when the season turns from Winter to Spring,

I'll eat a cookie for you, your song I will sing.

God has a new horse in Heaven, your baby by your side.

I'll see you both one day, and we can all go for a ride.

I love you Spring, always and true. In my heart, I'll always have you.

Natalie
