Spotakiss

Trouble Spot
Thoroughbred
15 years old

We lost our beautiful Spotakiss on June 19, 2010 when he was out playing with his buddies. The thing he loved to do. He came down wrong and broke his leg in 4 places.

Spotakiss was a gift for my daughter on Christmas Morning about 5 years ago. See, my daughter has always wanted a horse since she was five. I never will forget her saying "Mom, I think God doesn't want me to have a horse because he knows I will love that horse more than him.". But God brought this horse to us through adoption. He needed a human and my daughter needed a horse.

Spotakiss was a tease with me, but very loving to my daughter. Oh he would give me looks like, "Crap, its Grandma. Where's my mom!". Spotakiss couldn't jump due to an old racing injury he had, but looked beautiful under dressage. He hated the showring and so did my daughter, so instead they would play tag in the arena and pasture. He would free lunge with her and knew her voice so well. When we would drive up to the barn, as soon as we would get out of the car, he would whinny across all the other horses who continued to eat.

Many times I would go to pick up my daughter after a day at the barn and they would be laying down reading together. She would be nestled up in the crook of his shoulder.
He loved to hear her sing, and at the very end when he was in extreme pain, she sang "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables. He began to eat.

Spotakiss healed my daughter from a traumatic experience. When she was young she was kidnapped. We were in a domestic violence situation and after finding her we escaped by the help of the authorites.

We love you, Spotakiss. You forever will be in our hearts until we play tag again.

Love,
Grandma
