Snickers

Well done, Snickers, God’s good and faithful servant!

AKA “Snick, Snicks, Snickey, Snoop, Snoopy, My Love, Lovey, Sweets,
My Sweets, Mr. Mud”

Born: April 26, 1989 - Idaho  Angel Birth: June 25, 2013 - Heaven

Together: August 4, 1991 – Spirit to spirit, heart loves forever!

Snickers came into my life as an instrument of God’s great love and healing. I suffered from great emotional wounds, not finding a reason to live. While socializing at a horse sale (not horse shopping) 2 year-old Snickers “called” me to him from a yard of over 300 horses. When our eyes met he mentally “spoke” to me, “I’ll take care of you and you’ll take care of me and we’ll be together forever.”.  Needless to say, he came home with me that day. Imagine, a talking horse!

I wasn’t sure if it was Snickers or God talking to me but we began our journey that told my heart quickly that we’d already been soul mates. I find it funny that I didn’t even know his name until I got his paperwork; his name Snickers…my nickname at the time was Snickers too. My life changed that day. I had a reason to get out of bed every day, go to work and to take care of myself, to love. Each day now lived anew because I shared the same heartbeat with my beautiful friend Snickers.

I may have taught him how to fear not the horse eating llamas and ostriches, arena skills, how to work a rope and such things, but he taught me so much more. He taught me courage in life (being scared to death and saddling up anyway), humbleness (he could squeal like a pig and promptly buck me off on my backside or face plant me in the dirt or mud), to trust and believe in God and to love with all of my heart because love never dies. Snickers the healer – Snickers has his own, unique, care ministry for God.

When we retired from competitive events we started working with emotionally injured women. Initially thinking that they were there to learn how to ride and groom horses, Snickers showed them it was ok to share their tears and innermost secrets and so much more. One woman told me how Snickers mentally “spoke” to them. Worried what I would think of them if they told me I simply answered, “Well how do you think that Snickers and I met?”. They then understood completely. Most folks that met Snickers would never forget him. It was not uncommon for me to be somewhere without him and someone would look at me and say, “Where do I know you from?”. Then after thinking about it would say, “Oh, you’re Snickers mom!”.

Today I lived and Snickers you still live, in me! Snickers, you are forever the keeper of my heart. I will choose to live again tomorrow because our soul hearts still beat together and because I am redeemed through my Savior, Jesus Christ, a cherished and loved child of God. Snickers, I know that you are with me every day and still teaching me life lessons from heaven.

Loving you always,
Shari
