Secret became my "first-owned horse". She was out of foundation quarter
horse stock, but the breeder at the time of 77 years could not recall the
details and no paperwork was sent in for her registration. A young teen
bought her as a 2 year old and trained her up and showed her. At one of the
shows, the new stepfather ordered her to sell the horse. Secret
was sold that day.
I just happened to be in the local tack store a few months later and noted
an advertising for A grade Quarter horse 8 years old. I asked around and
all raved that she had a kind and gentle nature. I called to see her and
took a good look. She was a little thin and her feet were not trimmed. I
told the lady I would be taking her and would be back in 2 days. The transaction
was done and I never looked back...we had a great 16 years together.
You did western, english,
driving, and even gymkhana. You are the most wonderful little mare with
a kind and gentle soul. You produced 2 fine babies. You did EVERYTHING and
EVERYONE loved you. I passed you on to Sarah (3 years old) who started riding
you and you taught her well. You both even entered the local
fair.
My daughter (now 8) loved
her horse. While on holidays our farm sitter called and we never had a chance
to say goodbye, but we remember her as she looked when we left the
farm.
We love you, Secret, and
you were the best kept Secret.
Love, Prayers,
and Peaceful journey to green pastures.
Love,
Diane and Sarah
