To My Loving
Seabreeze
I met Seabreeze in the
spring of 2005. She was for sale at the barn where I was taking dressage
lessons. She had been a jump lesson horse. She was a 16.3 Oldenburg mare
and she was the most perfect, imperfect horse I had ever seen. Seabreeze
had terrible conformation, but she moved like a dream and I think she picked
me to be her partner because she knew she stole my heart. I had always heard
about horses that knew how to take care of their rider. I never knew I would
be lucky enough to own one.
Seabreeze was everything
an equine partner could be. She was sweet, patient, forgiving, willing and
was all heart. She was perfect for me, a beginning dressage rider. There
were so many times when there was something new that I know she was saying,
"If you'll be brave, I'll be brave!". She gave me the confidence to do what
I had always dreamed to do try showing. She won a First and a Second
place ribbon at our 2nd show.
In the spring of 2008,
colic took my sweet, beautiful mare from me. Every day I miss her, I miss
the way she whinnied when I closed my truck door and that she turned circles
in her stall when I walked in the barn. I am just so thankful for all the
incredible rides and the joy she gave me. To love an animal like that and
receive love back is everything a horse owner could hope for.
In my mind we are still
working towards the next level, I just never wanted the dance to
end.
It is because of you,
Seabreeze, I have the courage to keep riding and start over. You are forever in my
heart.
