Roi de la Courtade

Born in Baurech, France, Spring 2005
Died in San Agustin de Guadalix, Spain, November 25, 2012

Roi died yesterday of colic, while he was in surgery. He was seven years old, a little Selle francaise who arrived to us very thin and neglected two years before in Christmas.

He wasn't a Jumping horse, but he jumped with me and gave me confidence enough to try higher and higher, and he forgave me all my mistakes. He wasn't a dressage horse, but he was always ready to learn a new exercise and doing his best. He enjoyed long walks together with us and with Nacar, one of my other mares, and cookies, and fresh pastures in spring and autumn. He was calm and easy, and loving and cheerful. He was my horse and my husband's horse as well, always happy and soft as a teddy bear. In fact, we always called him our little teddy bear.

We have two more mares, Nacar and Yuma, who I know are as sad as their human family. It's very hard to me to say how deep is our grief, but he will live forever with us in our hearts.

Please, forgive my English, I'm Spanish and its very hard to write down these lines with tears in my eyes.

Roi, we will love forever.

Elena Fuica and Carlos Oviedo, Nacar and Yuma from Madrid, Spain.
