All horses deserve, at
least once in their lives, to be loved by a little girl.

Patrick, you must've been
pretty lucky, because you know you were loved by 2 (not so little) girls.
Two sisters. Actually we know that we were the lucky ones. Patrick, Kendall
and I loved you so much, you were the man of our dreams and we will never
forget you.
Of course you weren't always
a gentleman. You could be quite a handful! You always had your own ideas
and you were never shy about letting them be known. We loved that about you.
You used to be so cocky! The way you strutted around like you owned the place,
earned you the nickname, "King Patrick". Oh, when we were young, you and
I had many arguments and you seemed to take great joy in finding ways to
embarrass me. Good thing I had a sense of humor.
Patrick, you were so handsome!
The way your coat would gleam fiery orange in the bright summer sun would
take my breath away.
On September 17, 2006, my
dreams came true. With Kendall by my side, I went to the auction and bought
you. After all of those years, you were finally my horse. That was the happiest
day of my life. Although I never could quite believe that you were actually
mine, these last four months have been amazing. You made me so
proud!!!
I hoped you liked your new
home. It is a friendly and welcoming place, with huge fields of green grass.
We met some wonderful new friends there. They loved you too. Although I'm
not quite sure they believed the stories I would tell about your youth. "Dear,
sweet Patrick would never do those things!", I'm sure is what they would
think. Oh, if they only knew!
I'm sorry we didn't have
more time together as horse and owner. But I thank God for the time we did
have, it was a true gift. I had so many plans for us, and Kendall too. Patrick,
you left us so suddenly, we didn't even have a chance to say goodbye. I'm
sorry I didn't know that something was wrong.
I believe that you are granted
one great horse in a lifetime. Patrick, you were that once in a lifetime
horse for both of us. You taught me that dreams do come true.
Thank you for touching my
life.
Love,
Carrie
