Morgan was an amazing horse who touched my heart. We were so blessed to have spent Morgan's "wise years" with him. He came to us as an aged horse with a huge personality. Don't care what you say, don't care what you think, not scared of nothin' kind of guy.

If you've ever seen that saying, "Every horse deserves at least once in their life to be loved by a little girl." under one of those paintings with a little girl hugging a horse's neck...well, I'm the little girl. Morgan had so many people who loved him very much, he always made me feel like a little girl. At first he shot me these dirty looks like, "Get off of me, someone's gonna think I'm a softy!". I persisted and sure enough he just sucked all that love up! When it was time to feed, I'm always singing or humming a tune, he would nicker and let out a old man whinney. I think he loved you to sing to him.

He always came to save the day and give me my confidence back. If I'd have trouble with my riding with another horse, I'd hop on him and he would help me work through a problem. Didn't matter if it was posture, quiet hands, or leg  position.  Whatever it was, we'd go for a ride, he'd show me how it was supposed to be and say, "Ok, go try again on Doc now.".

Every time he had a saddle on he perked up. Like being a western pleasure horse was what he was born and proud to be. When the time came we could no longer ride him, it was like a switch flipped. He knew he wouldn't carry a rider again, but his work was far from done. He became very in tune with people and their emotions. I remember having a really bad day, I was overwhelmed, injured and it was one of those straws that broke the camel's back days. Morgan walked away from his food (knowing someone would steal it) came and curled his neck around me and let me cry like a fool! I swear I heard him say, "Aw kid, everything's gonna be ok.".  That's the same thing he said to me the day he passed. We stood at the top of the hill looking out at our farm in the mist, and shared a beautiful moment that with no words told the story of "us".

I've lost an amazing friend, and a patient teacher, but I've had the blessing of knowing and loving this amazing soul. He sure earned his horsey wings!

Love you Morgy,
Larissa
