Montana

Montana was my horse for about 15 years. He was a rescue so his age was unknown but was estimated to be 32 years when he died April 1, 2012.

I miss putting my hands under your mane on a cold day and pressing my nose against your neck to breath in your smell.

I miss running and jumping and being astride you.

I miss your wiggly nose and half eaten tail.

I just miss you.

Years of training and accomplishment.

Years of love and companionship.

Your vibrant red coat was replaced with thin brown dull fur.

The sparkle in your dark coral eyes was only a hint of the health and beauty they once were; you were tired.

It was so difficult to let you go, but it was the right thing to do.

Now you are restored.

My tears fall on a smile when I picture your beautiful deep red coat shining again.

I think of you in Heaven running around, enjoying green pasture and eating everything in sight.

I can smell you too, that wonderful horsey smell.

And even though I cannot put my cold hands under your mane for warmth

My heart is warmed by the thought of you wiggling your nose in anticipation for the day I'll be beside you again.

I miss you Montana and I love you

Amanda
