Misty

Quarter Horse
1983 - December 1, 2010

Misty was an exceptional horse. We like to think that she had the life all horses would love to live. She lived in our backyard for 16 years where she loved to run, jump and kick up her heels with her companion, Jimmy. She was an excellent trail horse, did lessons, went to camp with our daughter and loved to jump small jumps. She was the most willing horse I have ever known. She taught us everything she could about horses. There was something very human about her, she knew how much she was needed and loved.

Four years ago she and Jimmy moved to our ranch by the lake where she had 5 acres to graze and we could take our relaxing rides. When she decided to sneak through the fence she could roam with llamas on the other 45 acres until dinner time, always coming quickly when called. She had a favorite spot under the trees by the pond where she could look out over her property.

On December 1, 2010, at 27 years old, Misty left us to go run with the wild horses. My daughter found her lying in the pasture just steps from her favorite spot, it was as if she had just gone to sleep. The vet said it was probably something with her heart. A week later our first grandchild was born, I think she knew.

We enjoyed Misty for 20 years, she will be forever missed.

Love,
Kathy and Veronica
