My husband and I met Magic while volunteering at a horse rescue in South Florida.   While there, he was diagnosed with cancer.  We became attached to Magic so after his surgery and treatments we decided to adopt him.

He taught me so much about being a horse guardian.  I learned they are not a big dog, as I had imagined.  I had to understand I needed to be his leader, in order to gain his respect.  For me, natural horsemanship was the way to do this.  With Magic, less was more.  All he needed was a clear signal and a calm countenance from me, and he was usually happy to oblige.  Our relationship became stronger and I'll never forget the first nicker he gave me.  I had tears of joy!  It was then I knew I was doing something right. Either that, or he knew a few cookies were coming his way!

The cancer returned and our time with Magic was only a year and a half.  But, what a year and a half it was!!

Enjoy munching on pure pastures and putting your feet up on that pedestal, Magic.  Mommy and Daddy will see you on the other side.

We love you and miss you!
