In Loving Memory of Lottie
Noble
Lottie was spirited,
strong-willed, sweet and affectionate and, above all, loyal and lots of
fun.
When we first met on 23rd
March 2002, she was 8 years old. We didn't like each other very much to begin
with; in fact we spoke different languages.
To give her her due, she
was quite tolerant of me, and really tried hard to explain her point of view
quietly at first and then louder till she was shouting!
Gradually I learned to
be someone she looked up to and respected and we really started having fun
together. We learned lots of stuff together, like show jumping and cross
country (our favourite). We went on mock hunts together where we galloped
for miles with the wind in our hair.
I was so proud when she
won a ridden horse class and the judge said she was the most obedient horse
in the class!
She was very affectionate and
had an inbuilt sense of what's right and wrong, and she always gave people
the benefit of her opinion. This was coupled with a vibrant personality that
made everyone who knew her laugh, especially her 101 facial expressions.
We very rarely argued after
the first 9 months, and she even agreed to take my dad out every Friday afternoon
for a couple of years they also had fun
together!
In the summer she flirted
with all the boys at the yard, to my embarrassment, and she taught my colleague's
gelding the facts of life when they were recovering from injury in a paddock
together!
I had so much fun in the
time I spent with her. She taught me so much and I'll never forget
her.
Lottie, it was a privilege
to be your human partner. I know you're running wild and free, wait for me
at the end of the rainbow! I'll miss you till then.
Love always,
Mum xxx
