This is for Lokki. He was only two years old, but touched our hearts as
well as our souls.
Lokki was born at Harmony Horse Rescue. The first time I saw him, he was
laying in the pasture with his head on a volunteer's lap. I think Lokki was
more like a pet dog then a horse. He would follow you all over the pasture
on your chores. He always knew when I had cookies and he always reminded
me that he wanted one. He also knew when you were feeling down, he would
nudge you as if to say it's okay, I am here now.
About four weeks ago, Lokki
ran into something in the pasture and got a puncture wound. It became infected,
then the infection got into the joint, which isn't good for a horse.
We had to put Lokki down on October 9, 2007. It was so hard to see
him go, but the thought of him suffering every day of his life is a thought
that I couldn't stand. So for now, Lokki, we will stay here and think of
you waiting by the Rainbow Bridge till we get there to be with you.
