Little Man

Tennessee Walker

September 14, 2007 - October 12, 2007

After waiting what seemed like years for his arrival, Little Man came into this world. He was the first one born out of four mares.  As of this letter, the others haven't foaled.

We were first-time "parents" and weren't real sure what to do.  We didn't dip his umbilical cord in iodine as were supposed to and he developed an infection five days after he was born.  He seemed to get over this okay, but he was not as rambunctious as he should have been.  on the day before his death, he was finally interacting with the other horses on the farm, neighing at them and such.  It was a total shock to wake up the next morning and find that he had died during the night.

My heart was so broken that even as I am writing this, it is still hard to deal with his death.  I know that we only had him 28 days, but to me it felt like a longer time than that.  i know that some think that you can't become attached to an animal in 28 days, but you can. He was the light of our lives and will be forever missed by all who knew him.

We love you, Little Man.
