This is for "Little Bird,"
a horse I never knew. She was rescued by some friends, hundreds of pounds
underweight and also pregnant. Whatever led up to her horrible condition
is not known, but she suffered; that is known. She gave everything
she had of her body to her baby without food or kindness. She managed to
deliver her baby in the safety and loving arms of kind strangers, but
passed on a few days later.
This is a very special,
tearful memorial to a brave and beautiful horse who suffered tremendously
at the hands of man, but triumphed at the end with the birth of her beautiful
baby girl, who is thriving under the care of some very kind
people.
For Little Bird...you will
never be forgotten and your suffering was not in vain. You left
behind your very special "Song Bird," who will grow up strong and loved...never
to be hurt as you were. Just know that you were loved at the end of your
life. I hope you are happy and free of the misery you felt on earth. You
were loved more than you know, even if it was for just a few
days.
To all the horses that have
suffered needlessly and died, we love you too.
