The day Jack was born we knew he would be special, he stood so tall and was elegant from day one, with an air of royalty about him.

He had the sweetest nature, and was so easy to handle from the moment he was born through to his weaning and first show.  He took everything in his stride, and was a complete gentleman always.  He competed at a couple of shows as a baby successfully but all the hard work culminated with him doing the trip to the Australian National Championships in Tamworth with his sire Khouros.  He got on so well with his dad, and they travelled like champions on the 8 hour drive.  He bounced off the float like he had only just got on it, and settled into his week at the showgrounds until he got his chance to compete for the Australian National Champion Yearling anglo which he took in his stride in the massive indoor arena, and took out the reserve champion award!  His next victory was the Gala Event a couple of months later, where in total mud and pouring rain he went out looking like a million dollars (hard to imagine him looking BETTER than he did at the Australian Champs, but he did!) and took out the coveted title and the garland for Champion Anglo exhibit sponsored by Regent Park NZ.  He was victorious over some amazing horses that had been holding these titles for some time, and Helen and myself got to run out into the ring and share the moment with Jack and his handler Michelle Thomas.  It truly was a proud moment!

The decision had been made before Jack was conceived that he would be for sale, and Helen and I knew it was the right decision as neither of us had the time or the finances to bring him to his ultimate peak which we knew he could sweep all before him.  As a saddle horse we knew he would be amazing and would definitely be an Australian Champion!  So the advertising began, and one person stood out and seemed to love him as much as we did before she even got to see him!  That person was Melissa Hoile from SA, who with her family they packed up and headed for Qld on a massive drive of a few days to get to us to meet Jack, and she was not disappointed with what she saw when she got here.  In fact she was in love with him, and later told us that he had been her screensaver on her computer at home for like 8 weeks from finding his ad!  So the journey began for him to leave for South Australia and before long we were kissing our beautiful boy goodbye, on his big journey to start his life with his wonderful new owner.

He travelled beautifully and arrived in perfect condition, and Melissa was so excited about his arrival!  From there, she allowed him time to settle into his new surroundings and have a break after such a big trip, then his show career was to begin and his training and conditioning began.  The time finally arrived and he went to his first local show where he took out Reserve Junior Champion and then the distressing call came less than a week later that Jack had passed away. He had died of colic...

How can such a thing happen to such an amazing specimen...he was truly unique and one of a kind and can never be repeated...

We are all heartbroken at his passing and his owner Melissa is so devastated by his passing. Helen and I are definitely in a state of shock and not quite sure how to get our heads around this loss. He will always be one of the best in our lives. And Helen chose the most amazing mare to create him, so the choice of this mare to breed to Khouros was the ultimate...so thank you Helen. And we must thank his dam for giving us such an amazing animal - his dam passed away last year too, so this breeding cannot be repeated at all. And of course thank you to Khouros for your amazing genes, yet again you created an animal that touches peoples' hearts and captures them from day 1. I also have to thank myself, I did all his show prep and he spent a large portion of his life with me and joining in the everyday living at our stud, and being stabled next to his dad, and filled my heart with joy every day seeing his face!  Such an amazing character. And LASTLY to Melissa...you found your dream horse, you gave him an amazing home, one he thrived in and loved you and your family completely as only Jack could do and he will live on in your heart forever. We felt so blessed that you found Jack, and now all our hearts are broken at this amazing horse's passing...

R.I.P. Jack...you will be forever missed.

Simone
