I've known Jen since I was
5 years old. I'm 10 years old now. She wasn't my horse then but I loved her
soooo much they let me keep her for a month. Then they had to take her back
for the crippled Girl Scouts. But I wouldn't let them, but they did. Then
a couple of weeks later it was my sixth birthday and I got Jen for a
present.
I would ride on our favorite trails and I remember when Jen saved me and
my friend from a bobcat once. Every holiday I would take a picture of her
in her Santa hat or Easter bunny ears.
Then, that day came. It was January 11, 2008. I woke up for school and went
outside to feed Jen and she is a pig when it comes to eating, so when I went
outside, she was in the shed. Then I shook the bucket and she started limping
towards me and she just fell, so I called my 16 year-old sister Ashley and
told her to get mom and she told me to put the food in front of her and she
would take her to the vet while I was at school. So I went to school worrying
about Jen. Then when my mom picked me up after school she told me that the
vet said she might pass away tonight or the next night. So I stayed with
her all day, then we had to leave for my brother's birthday. I tried to fight
my mom to let me stay but they won. So I gave her a hug and a kiss and told
her, "Bye, I love you.". Then we left and I didn't even eat cause I was so sad.
Then we came back about midnight and my dad went back there to check on Jen
and asked me if I wanted to go see Jen. I said, "Why?". He said, "Cause she
passed away.". So I went back there bawling.
We buried her with her first place barrel racing ribbon on her ear and some
pictures of me and her. We put the ribbon on her so she could be first place
in heaven and the pictures to remember everyone. That's my story of my beloved
Jen.
