Hope

Quarter Horse filly

April 2, 2009 - April 3, 2009

You were a surprise to us. You weren't due until the 19th, but you came early, it may have been the cold...maybe the snow...but you came to us unknowingly.

We found you at about 5 in the morning. Your momma had done a great job of cleaning you up, but you were weak and very cold. We loaded you up immediately and took you to the vet.

You were precious. A small lightning blaze down your face and two small white socks. Your little ears were so cold. I wanted to call you Hope, because I hoped and prayed with all my being you would be okay.

The vet's office was very good, put a little blanket on you and socks, gave you an IV, milked your mom and gave you what you needed, you even sucked to drink the milk. You were getting stronger...but somehow you couldn't go on any longer. I wasn't there and I'm sorry, but I know you were in loving arms as the vet's wife stayed with you all night feeding you and she held you while you passed away.

I am so sorry we weren't there for you when you were born. Your momma didn't show any signs of you coming into the world and you weren't due for another 3 weeks. I know you are in better hands with the Lord.

I had dreamt of the day you came into our world, so happy and excited, picking out names, wondering of your color/markings. I guess I will have to wait to spend much time with you, but know that we did love you since the time we heard you were expected.

Love,
Brandi
