Fly To Victory

Conammara Pony

March 11, 2004 - March 12, 2004

We waited so long for you...why did you have to go? You would have Flyed to Victory, but no.

It was the beginning of March as me and Ashely were petting Summer Kisse's head telling her we were waiting for the baby. We had waited so long as she was a little overdue. We were all excited about it. We all went on a trail ride...not knowing what was going on back in the pasture. When we came back, we were all taking care of our horses when Keaton and Alex come running down shouting, "KISSES HAD HER FOAL, KISSES HAD HER FOAL!" Me, Brandon, and Ashely ran to our trainers house to tell her, then we all ran to the pasture.

The foal was beautiful...a little bay colt with a blaze and a stocking that went all the way up his back leg. It was amazing watching him first standing up and his first meal. It was magical and I'll never forget it. I stayed there a long time until I had to go home. Kisses and Victory were moved to the barn next door to have a stall for the night.

The next day I came back to have a lesson, expecting to see the foal. Then Ashely came up to me and said that the foal died. It was horrible. We had waited so long for him. She said that the other barn called and said there was something wrong with him, so my trainer went over there, leaving the kids in the arena. When she got back she didn't go to the arena but went to the barn. He was buried in a field near our barn.

We weren't sure what happened that night...we all still mourn his loss and wish he could have lived. We miss him so much and he really could have Flyed To Victory!
