It was a Wednesday night and I was over at my friend's house spending
the night. Everything was fine then I got on the AIM and was talking to my
friends, Ashely and Morgan. The first thing they asked me, "Did you hear
about Ever?". I didn't at the time and they proceeded to tell me what had
happened. They said that Ever had gotten caught in a barb wire fence and
was found the next day. They took him to the emergency room, but it was too
late. The doctor said that he had a liver problem and might have been running
from the pain. I just broke down. I called them hoping for them to say they
were kidding...but they weren't.
I couldn't sleep that night...I was thinking about Ever so much.
That horse was VERY special to me...he was the horse that taught me and everyone
else at my old barn to walk, trot, canter, jump, bareback, and so much more.
He was the pony I had my very first show on...which was my birthday present
concluding my first year of riding.
I left that barn about a year ago and I thought that was just the goodbye
of a leaving and maybe going to see him again. But it was actually an eternal
goodbye.
To this day we and all the people who knew him grieve over his loss. We all
loved him and wish he was still with us. He was an amazing horse and his
name lives on...for he will always be ours truly forever.
