Ellie

I bought Ellie on 15th May 1999.  She cost £2500 but I got £50 back as "luck money".  She was as novice a horse as I was a rider and we learned together. I fell off a few times with 2 trips to A & E but always got back on.

We did local shows and dressage competitions and got lots of rosettes including a few firsts. We went round farm rides, blasts across fields, sunny (and rainy) hacks and did loads of enjoyable work in the school.  Everyone loved her, many people rode her and she was a real confidence giver. We spent hours successfully training her to load into a trailer without ever having to force her.  I taught her to touch her nose onto a plastic disc that I threw around the school.

She was very gentle with me when I was expecting my daughter and I continued to ride until I was 7 months pregnant.  She was very pretty, everyone knew she was a mare.  I loved grooming her and making her look nice.  She loved food and hated flies!  She cost me an absolute fortune but I don't regret a penny.

She always had problems with her feet and we knew one day it would get worse. I fought hard to save her, I loved her so much.  We tried everything but nothing worked to ease her pain.  I couldn't bear to see her suffer any more and so Ellie went to sleep on Monday 3rd August 2015.  She was my best friend for 16 years and I will miss her so much.
