God forbid that I should
go to any Heaven where there are no horses.
R. B. Cunningham-Graham
1917 letter to Theodore Roosevelt
My precious, precious girl...
Even though I had a sign from God in that photo that He was getting ready
to take you across the bridge, I can still hardly bear to think of how you're
gone!
How I love you. You taught me so much, I can't believe how little I knew
before I met you, or how you prepared me for your successors. You were my
once-in-a-lifetime horse and I'll never know another like you. I know sometimes
God needs a ride, but I miss you so and wish I could've learned from you
just a little while longer...my regal queen, I'm so glad you decided to let
me love you.
I'll never forget that last day, I wish I could have carried you or held
you up...I'm just glad your pain and weakness are gone now; they were such
foreign feelings to you...now I must say good night until we meet again.
I know you will be looking over me. There will never be a day that goes by
that I don't think of you. You were the best dressage horse. It amazed me
how you practiced the routines in the pasture to show off to the other horses.
I felt safe with you, now I have to go on without you. Trust me when I say,
"One day we will meet again. I know you'll be waiting on the rainbow bridge
for me."
My Mare,
My Horse,
My beloved friend.
I will not leave you till the end,
and when I do,
If your spirit is true,
you will return,
with wings, that's all.
To watch over me,
to love me,
to gallop with your friends,
My Mare,
My Horse,
My beloved friend.
Kate
