Dinky Welsh Part-Bred Unregistered Welsh Mountain Pony Born 6 May 1989 - Died 8 August 2002 Dinky was a very special pony in my life. I loved to ride her and show her, winning many of our classes, but the one we won the most was the class called Most Appealing Pony where almost every judge we had adored this 10.3hh mare. She was born a month premature, and had issues growing. At age 10, my mother gave her to me for my 5th birthday. I would ride her every day and we would learn something new. But in September 2001, Dinky couldn't stand in her stall. We did all we could to get her up. Her life was at risk, until the vet just managed to save her. That year, we had the vet out twice more. April 2002 was the worst though. She collapsed on a ride and the vet was called out. She managed to get her standing but she couldn't walk. She was taken to the stables where the vet told us it was definately laminitis, and said that if they were called out once more, the best thing for her would be to lay her to rest. On 5 August, she collapsed again, but this time nothing could save her. She died naturally on 8 August 2002. Meghan Rushton Age 13
