We just lost our Dillon boy today. He was at the trainers and only had
a couple weeks before he was to come home. A healthy two year old, he came
down with a fever on Sunday. I had just seen him on Saturday and he was looking
great. The vet was called and she gave him antibiotics and banamine. Monday
he had the same fever. I bathed him with wet towels and loved on him. Monday
night we did the same. Tuesday his fever came down from 105 to 101.2. We
felt he was getting better. Wednesday we were headed to see him as his fever
was down to 100.6. After checking at 9 a.m. we were headed up and then got
a call at 10:00 a.m.. He was dead. Why!
Dillon was the type of
horse who didn't know he was a horse. He was more like a dog. He followed
me everywhere and I loved on him all the time. Such a pleasure to work around
and just a friend to everyone he met. He would be your constant companion
and loved being with people. He was the most special horse I ever owned and
probably will ever have the pleasure of owning. We had a special bond and
I'll miss him forever.
