Clyde

Clyde "Jet" Ricker
May 5, 2011 - August 3, 2012

After losing my precious gelding Scorpio last year, it took some time before I was able to bring another horse into our family.  Finally we set out on our search...looking for a little filly. We found her online and fell in love.  We wanted something nothing at all like our lost gelding.  However, when we went to visit her we also fell in love with another little guy.  His name was Jet and he caught our eye from the beginning.  We ended up coming home with two horses.  We named them Bonnie and Clyde.  We were just so excited. Every day we spent hours with our new horses.

One week later there was a tragic accident.  Clyde got tangled up in the round pen somehow and ripped the tendons in his back leg.  We rushed him to the vet, but the damage was too extensive to repair.  Just one week after Clyde joined our family he was taken away.  I'm not sure why...it just didn't seem fair.  He was only one year old and really hadn't gotten the chance to show what he was made of.  He was so gentle and loving.  He loved to be scratched and he drank from the hose.  He certainly didn't deserve such an abrupt end.  I have to trust that everything happens for a reason--even if I don't understand it.

We love you, Clyde.  Even if only for a week, you touched our hearts and we will never forget you.  I hope that you and Scorpio have found each other and run the pastures of heaven together.

Love,
Melissa and Sean

When we think of those companions who traveled by our side down life's road let us not say with sadness that they left us behind, but rather say with gentle gratitude that they were once with us.
