Irish Cob
22 years old
Died 2nd of June 2010

I first met you at Beechbrooke Stables when I first started to ride. We took a while to get to know each other, but 4 months later I was proud to say you were mine.

We spent the next few years show-jumping at Mill Of Uras and going on beach rides. You were so naughty you would take off along the sand but we both loved it. No matter what we did, you gave me 110%. When we did 'Chase Me Charlie' classes you would push yourself to the limit, you tried so hard to please me. You would always get you favourite Kendal Mint Cake as your treat at the end of a competition.

When I went to University and could only see you at weekends, you forgave me. We enjoyed hacking out and going to the odd show. I could tell you anything and you would listen.

I have so many fond memories, too many to list. Riding you with my wedding dress, going out for hacks and gallops on our own, you teaching Rosie how to be a proper riding horse, you always looked after me. I could never have asked for a better first horse, you taught me well, knew me inside out and forgave me no matter what happened. You were and always will be my best friend.

I feel heartbroken you have gone but I know how much pain you were in. You tried so hard to stay with me but I couldn't be that selfish. You waited for Rosie to have Bailey before you left me, making sure I had someone else to look after me. You went down so peacfully, as if to spare me the pain of seeing you drop. You looked so peaceful and free of pain.

Have fun galloping in the fields past Rainbow Bridge. We will meet again one day, my Charlie horse. Until then I will treasure our time together.

Gillian
