In Loving Memory of Charlie
|
1968 - 2004 |
Charlie was 2 years old
when my father bought him. He used him as a work pony until I was old enough
to ride and he became my pony. He was very good to my family and I, he lived
freely on our farm with not a care in the world. There was nothing that
he could do wrong in my eyes. He might not have been a fancy show pony or
anything like that, but he was my pony and he was the best pony in the world!
I am 24 years old now and he was 36 years old when he passed on December
27, 2004. I tried everything I could to keep him healthy and strong, but
as my father says, "When it's your time to go...then it's your time.".
I have a son now. He is 5 years old and he has had the pleasure of knowing
Charlie and becoming his friend: they were buddies.
On December 26, 2004, Charlie went down in his stall, and I tried all night
to get him up. The next day I knew there was no hope for him, so I called
my vet to come and put him down, but she couldn't come until the next morning.
So I went to the barn and put a blanket under him and covered him up with
a blanket and put a pillow under his head. Shortly after, he started acting
funny, so I got my dad and he came. When we walked back in his stall and
touched him, he took his last breath.
It is now December 28th and I buried him today underneath his apple tree
in the pasture where he will be at rest. I am going to miss him so much!
He is forever in my heart!
