Above is Chance. He
came to live with me in January of 2004. I had to bury him on July 8, 2004.
I discovered he had been infected with the parasite that causes EPM in early
May. I treated him with Navigator, but too much damage had been done. He
was unable to get up without a struggle. He was falling down when he would
try to run and play with my other two horses. This was not how I wanted him
to live. The hardest thing was that everything else about him was normal.
Chance was always the one who saw me coming into the drive and
would head to the barn. He was very handsome and friendly. Having to put
him down was the worst day of my life. I love my other two horses, but there
will never be another one like Chance and I miss him more and more
each day. I know I did the right thing, but it is still very hard to accept.
