Bud, you were my very first
horse. When I bought you, you were so big and yet so loving. As we grew together,
you were my best friend.
I was the first one on your back and you let me. And when I fell off, you
stood with me. You did not like the saddle too much, so I rode you bareback
for a year. But as we were trotting through the field, you went one way and
I went the other and I got hurt. So I had to send you to someone
to break you to the saddle and you did it.
You were my special boy. And I had you spoiled for Pepsi and beer. When it
was feeding time, you would come up to me and put your head in my pockets
to see if I had anything in there for you.
I was the only one who could ride you. I remember the time Jim tried to get
on you and you bucked him off...not once, but three times and he broke his
finger! I told him I am the only one you would let on your back.
I still remember the last ride we took before you were taken from me that
terrible night...first Lacie, then you. I was lost. My heart was missing
a beat as if I was with you. I know it's been a very long time, but I just
found this Hoofbeats in Heaven group and it is wonderful and I can tell everyone
how much you were loved.
My best friend,
Bud.
