Above Command

The two of us have always been a team - his loud nickers of hello in the morning, his deep voice as he talked to his herdlet of mares, his inquisitive look with those huge, lipid eyes, those tiny hooked ears that only a beautiful stallion can have, his proud carriage and powerful trot with his mane and tail flowing in the wind, his inquisitive nature and bold attitude, his soft muzzle touching my hand as he gently took his peppermint, his guarded stance as he gazed proudly at his foals. These are only a few of the things I will miss every day for the rest of my life.

Above Command went to visit his favorite mares who have gone before him. He had a serious injury from a fall and though he tried valiantly to recover, it was not meant to be. His very special friend, Blueberry Tart, was waiting for him as he crossed the bridge - of that I have no doubt. My heart is breaking, but I know he would encourage me to move on, just as he has done for the almost 20 years he has shared our lives.

Be at peace my big boy - the star on your forehead the shape of my logo will light up the sky with it's brilliance tonight.
