You came on a trailer, skinny and cold, one winter day and you found me.
You were born and raised on a camp in one of the Carolinas, and then you
moved to Louisiana with a teenager who later picked a car over you. My gain!
I was your third owner and you found a forever home with me. It didn't take
you long to gain weight. Mr. Sonny put "the scoop" to you and I rode you
six days a week. Your trainer for 3 years before you found me didn't even
recognize you when she saw us at a show. That was my best
compliment.
I miss you not letting
me out of the stall door or the paddock gate because you wanted me to continue
scratching your back. I would kiss you on your nose when I would leave your
stall and you would bite my arm or back. You loved to take your 4 o'clock
naps standing under your fan. I miss hand-walking you so that you could graze.
You always seemed to start where you stopped the last time. I miss watching
you graze in your favorite corner in your paddock and jumping your ditch
to trot to see me.
You are the love of my
life. Thank you, Frenchy, for every precious moment. I know you are watching
over me from heaven and waiting for us to go on hacks together again. I can't
believe you are gone. I can't go to the barn and see you whenever I want
to. You are a special horse and in your own way you were always there for
me. I am completely lost without you.
You looked into my soul
when I looked into your big beautiful brown eyes. Now I am left to pick up
the pieces. You were the light of my life and now my world is dark and gray.
You always amazed me and you will always be the best thing that ever happened
to me. I can not recreate what we had, that was one in a lifetime.

See you tomorrow. I said this before leaving you when I gave you your carrots.
Now I will have to wait to see you in heaven. You are with me every day in
my heart and soul until then.
